Privacy Policy

Timer for Keynote is built to stay out of your way — and that includes staying out of your data. The app runs locally on your Mac, does not include analytics or tracking, and does not transmit your timer settings, presenter notes, or any personal information to us or to third parties.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how the Timer for Keynote applications for macOS, iPadOS, and iOS (the "App") and the website at timerforkeynote.vercel.app (the "Site") handle information. By installing or using the App or the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

"We," "us," and "our" refer to the publisher of Timer for Keynote. See Contact below to reach us.

2. Information we collect

The App is designed to function entirely on your devices. We do not operate user accounts, profiles, or cloud services for the App.

Stored locally on your device

The App stores the following information locally on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad. This data does not leave your device and is not transmitted to us:

• Your timer preferences (default durations, selected style, sound and haptic settings).
• Window position and visual configuration of the floating overlay.
• The list of devices you have paired for remote control, including a local nickname for each.
• Standard macOS and iOS user defaults written by the App.

Diagnostics from Apple (optional)

If you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in your iOS or macOS Privacy & Security settings, Apple may share anonymized crash reports and performance metrics with us via App Store Connect. These reports do not include personal information and are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can disable this sharing at any time in System Settings.

Beta testing via TestFlight

While the App is distributed through TestFlight, Apple collects additional usage and crash information as described in the TestFlight terms. That collection is performed by Apple, not by us.

Website

The Site is a static website. It does not set tracking cookies, does not use analytics scripts, and does not include third-party social widgets that profile you. Standard server access logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) may be retained briefly by our hosting provider for security and reliability and are not used to build advertising profiles.

3. Information we don't collect

To be specific, the App does not collect or transmit:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
• The contents of your Keynote presentations, presenter notes, or any document you open.
• Screenshots, screen recordings, or microphone or camera input.
• Location data.
• Browsing history or data from other apps.
• Advertising identifiers or marketing identifiers.

The App does not include analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers.

4. How we use information

Because we receive almost no information, our use is correspondingly narrow. Locally stored preferences are used solely to make the App work as you configured it. Anonymous crash reports forwarded by Apple, if any, are used only to find and fix bugs.

We do not sell or rent any information. We do not use information for advertising or for training machine learning models.

5. Remote control & pairing

The iOS Remote app communicates with the Mac app over your local network using a peer-to-peer connection. The two devices exchange only what is needed to render the timer and accept commands such as start, pause, add time, and stop.

• Pairing happens between your devices. We do not operate a relay server, and your control messages do not pass through us.
• The list of paired devices is stored on your devices and can be removed at any time from the App's settings.
• Bonjour or a similar Apple framework is used for local discovery, which requires your permission to access the local network on iOS and iPadOS.

6. macOS & iOS permissions

The App may request the following operating-system permissions. Each permission is requested only when needed and can be revoked at any time in System Settings.

• Local Network (iOS / iPadOS) — required to discover and pair with the Mac running Timer for Keynote.
• Accessibility / Screen Recording (macOS) — used only if you enable features that detect Keynote's slideshow state and overlay the timer above other windows. The App reads only what is needed for those features and does not record your screen.
• Notifications — used to alert you when a timer ends if you opt in.
• Bluetooth — only if you connect a supported remote accessory; not used by default.

7. Third parties

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and TestFlight. Your purchase, download, and beta participation are governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy. We do not receive payment data or your Apple ID from Apple beyond what App Store Connect reports show in aggregated form.

The Site is hosted by a third-party hosting provider. The provider may process server logs as described in their privacy policy.

8. Children's privacy

The App is a productivity tool for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to address it.

9. Data retention

Information stored on your device is retained until you delete it, uninstall the App, or reset its settings. Crash diagnostics shared via Apple are retained for the period described in Apple's Privacy Policy. Server access logs from the Site are retained briefly by our hosting provider and then automatically deleted.

10. Your rights

Because we do not maintain user accounts and do not collect personal data on our servers, most data-subject requests do not apply to the App in a meaningful way. You can, however, exercise the following controls at any time:

• Access and portability — your timer preferences and paired-device list live on your device and are visible in the App's settings.
• Deletion — uninstall the App, or use its Reset Settings option, to remove locally stored data.
• Opt-out of diagnostics — disable "Share with App Developers" in iOS or macOS Privacy & Security settings.
• Local network access — revoke at any time in iOS Settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), or similar laws. To exercise any such right, contact us using the details below. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

11. International users

The App processes data on your device in the country where you use it. Limited information that flows through Apple (such as crash diagnostics) may be processed in the regions where Apple operates, in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App or to applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site or within the App. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
